1971 Volvo 1800E - $28,500 - Sioux falls, SD -

1971 Volvo 1800 E, Original White on Red leather interior, 143,621 original miles, all documentation from new with a complete known owner history, including the owner warranty card. The car has been featured in MotorTrend Magazine while it was owned by the previous owner, a Ms. Amber Mihna.  She had purchased the car from the original owner who bought the car new in San Diego, California. He lived there with the car up until 2011 when he moved to Wisconsin. In 2012, he sold the car to Ms. Mihna and she kept the car as a specialty driver up until late 2015 when I purchased it from her.

As far as the condition of the car goes, it is in excellent original condition. The paint, glass, chrome, and stainless are all in outstanding shape with only minor flaws here and there. The car is very solid with no rust issues to mention (see the trunk area), which is a big deal on these Volvo’s. The dash has no cracks, the rubber trim on the exterior of the car is all in good condition, and all of the electrical and gauges work as they should. It also has the original working radio which for some reason is the first thing most 1800 owners get rid of. The car runs and drives great, has plenty of power, is tight with no rattles, and aside from having the car gone through (changing all fluids, a tune up, and a thorough detailing) right when I bought it, I have had to do no mechanical repair work in the years that I have owned it except for a new fuel pump earlier this year and the normal yearly maintenance.

The front seats skins were also replaced with factory type leather at some point by the second owner, and new Coco Mats. The Radiator has been replaced for a new aluminum unit that, although not original type, I feel is necessary if anyone were to drive the car at any long length or if the car was in a very hot climate. To me, the radiator is a welcome upgrade.

There are not very many of these old 1800’s left in this sort of condition with this amount of documentation, history, and paperwork. I spent a lot of time looking for an 1800 of any year that was this nice, and aside from going to the Netherlands, the pickings are pretty slim if you are the type that likes documentation, history, and an unmodified original car.
